You can navigate around your device more easily by using your keyboard, voice and mouse pointer.

Keyboard shortcuts are a simple, built in way for you to navigate your desktop faster, saving you plenty of time and ditching that overly dependent relationship with your mouse. 

If you prefer to use your voice to navigate around your device, you can change your settings on your device to do this and program your device to recognise your voice

Navigate using your keyboard or voice

There are lots of useful keyboard shortcuts that can help you navigate webpages or documents without a mouse:

You can also switch between documents or windows using your keyboard:

  • Windows 10: Alt+Tab - hold down the Alt key. Press Tab to show all open windows and documents. Press Tab repeatedly until you highlight your desired window, then let go of both buttons to switch to it.
  • Mac OS: press Cmd+Tab to cycle forward through open windows and documents.

Making your mouse pointer easier to see

Windows

  • You can adjust the pointer size and colour, and make the cursor wider: Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Mouse pointer.
  • You can also show the pointer location when you press the Crtl button: Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse > Additional mouse options > Pointer options

Mac

To make the mouse pointer bigger: Apple menu > System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Cursor
