Welcome to the Subject Guide for Philosophy

At the moment the Library buildings are closed, so this Guide is especially important for finding relevant resources. All the key online journals and databases are linked from the Find resources tab. You can also get lots more help in the Develop your skills tab.

You can contact me, your Academic Liaison Librarian, for help via email to arrange an appointment via video chat or telephone. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need support. There's also a Library FAQ about how we're responding to corona, here

In the meantime, watch the video below to get an overview of how to use the Library and get help during this extraordinary period.

Learning online

It can be tricky to get up to speed with studying online, when all your learning is taking place over the internet. We've put together a guide with information on working off campus, communicating online, being digitally organised and a lot more. It's really well worth a look:

Extra resources now available online

During the coronavirus period, several publishers have made additional content available to us online. Sometimes this means more journals or ebooks are available to us than before on a particular site, and sometimes it means we've added a new site to our collections. We've created a Covid-19 category on the E-resources Guide to keep track of these in one place. You'll see a list of trials and expanded resources, with an explanation as to what's now available on each one. We hope you can find some useful resources to help your work, and we'll add to the list whenever we can.
