Your Library, Your Voice

Welcome

A collection of reading lists on a range of equality and diversity themes.

A megaphoneWe are committed to ensuring that the Library is representative of the diversity of voices at the University of York and our wider community. We believe that this is Your Library and we encourage you to add Your Voice to the services we offer and the resources we make available. While we strive to be an inclusive organisation, we know that there is much more work for us to do. We will make conscious efforts to work in partnership with our communities, listening to and learning from them. We are committed to this, not just for now but in the long term, and this commitment will translate into actions and outcomes.

In the short term our focus will be creating reading lists with suggested reading on a range of equality, diversity and inclusivity themes. Our first list focuses on Black Lives Matter and you can access it using the tab at the top of this page. It includes sources covering for example: Black Lives Matter and the police: decolonising education; race, racism and white privilege; and empire.

If you would like to work with us, or have any suggestions to feed in, please get in touch with your Faculty Librarians in the first instance. We will be happy to discuss your thoughts and ideas.
